Jul. 9, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Shanghai has become the most popular city for luxury goods among mainland Chinese and is expected to remain the favorite for a while, according a report recently released by an Asian market research firm, the Shanghai Daily reported on Tuesday. About 12.4% of the 1,000 Chinese luxury goods buyers questioned said Shanghai was their first choice. Beijing, the country's capital city, followed Shanghai as the second-most popular destination city for luxury goods shopping. The global economic slowdown has had a limited impact in mainland China. The luxury goods market continues to develop, and more residents in the country's second-tier cities are now able to afford luxury goods, said the report. Second-tier cities are the key to achieving sustainability in the Chinese market, said one analyst. Copyright © 2009 www.chinaknowledge.com |
