Jul. 2, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Lenovo Group Ltd<0992>, the world's fourth-largest PC manufacturer, plans to grow its business in another emerging market by transplanting its best practices from China to India, according to Lenovo India Managing Director Amar Babu, sources reported. Lenovo sees large potential demand in emerging markets, and India is the key market of the firm's emerging market business, added Babu. Although Lenovo's PC market share in India dropped to 4.7% in the first quarter (Q1) of this year from 6.6% a year earlier, the Chinese PC maker expects to boost sales in India by providing new PC models, Lenovo yesterday launched seven new PC models in India and said that 50 new products will be added to its product portfolio this year. The newly released PCs are priced between INR 22,500 and INR 100,400, and target different consumption segments. The Indian PC market contracted 19% in Q1 from a year earlier due to the negative impact of the economic slowdown. Copyright © 2009 www.chinaknowledge.com |
