Jun. 29, 2009 (China Knowledge) - China and 22 Arab countries have agreed to establish a cooperative energy mechanism, according to an outcome document approved by the sixth senior officials' meeting at the Sino-Arab Cooperation Forum in Beijing on Wednesday. The cooperation will involve governments and state-owned and private enterprises that manage energy resources, including renewable resources such as solar and wind power. The two sides agreed to enhance energy utilization efficiency, use nuclear energy peacefully and promote investment in oil and natural gas exploration, refining, transportation and sales. The participants also agreed to hold the second Sino-Arab Energy Cooperation Forum in Sudan's capital, Khartoum, and the fourth ministerial conference of the Sino-Arab Cooperation Forum in China in 2010. During this forum, the two sides expressed their pride in their achievements in building mutual trust, mutual benefit and a sustainable Sino-Arab partnership. They committed to strengthening cooperation in trade, investment and environmental protection and to enhancing their exchange of culture, art and education.
