Jun. 24, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Canon China, a subsidiary of the world's largest camera maker, Canon Inc, has predicted that its overall revenue will increase by 20% in 2009 and that revenues from the East China region may grew even more, benefiting from the rising demand for electronic gadgets such as cameras and video recorders before the opening of Shanghai World Expo 2010, the Shanghai Daily reported.

The company also hopes that the Expo will boost Canon's sales of multi-functional printers.

Canon recorded a 50% month-on-month growth in sales of high-end digital cameras in China, said Hideki Ozawa, Canon's chief president in China, adding that some camera models were in short supply this year.

Canon is consolidating its marketing in China this year. The company began to showcase its new products in Chinese cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou in April, according to Taisei Ehara, a manager of the Japanese camera maker.

In past years, Canon maintained an average annual growth rate of 30% in China. It has become the country's biggest camera supplier.
