Jun. 24, 2009 (China Knowledge) - BYD Co<1211>, which is China's largest rechargeable battery maker and a well-known automobile producer, plans to release five new vehicle models in the second half of this year, sources reported.

The automaker will launch the S8, G3, S5 and M6 car models as well as its all-electric e6 model by the end of this year. It will also enter the multi-purpose vehicle market with its first flagship MPV model, the M6.

The automaker also plans to begin selling its F3DM plug-in hybrid compact sedan to individual customers this September. BYD's F3DM car was released for sale to government agencies and corporations in 2008.

The BYD F3DM vehicle is the world's first new-energy car model that can be charged using a household power outlet. The car can be recharged to 50% in 10 minutes at BYD's charging station and can be recharged to 100% in nine hours by a household power outlet.
