Jun. 17, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Hong Kong-based conglomerate Hutchison Whampoa Ltd (HWL)<0013> on Tuesday said its partly-owned unit Partner Communications Co Ltd has reached an agreement with Apple Sales International to buy and re-sell iPhone handsets in Israel, Reuters reported. Under the three-year agreement, Partner will purchase a minimum quantity of iPhone handsets each year. The iPhone purchases will represent a significant portion of the company's expected handset purchases during the period, Hutchison Whampoa said in a statement filed with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The total cost of the handset purchases will depend on the prices prevailing during the period, according to the statement. Partner Communications, a leading mobile communications operator in Israel, is a subsidiary of Hutchison Telecommunications International Ltd<2332><HTX>, the first provider of 3G mobile services in Hong Kong and Israel, and operates brands that include "Hutch," "3" and "orange".
