Jun. 16, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Toshiba Corporation hopes its notebook products will obtain a 10% market share in China next year, according to the general manager of Toshiba Personal Computer & Network (Shanghai), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Japanese electronic giant.

The company has seen its notebook sales surge 221% last year, and it targets to become one of the top three best selling notebook brand in China this year, said the general manager at an interview.

The company will diversify its products and distribution channels in a bid to regain its leading position in the world's second largest personal computer market. Meanwhile, it will also enhance its marketing strategy to help achieve the goal over the next few years.

Currently, Toshiba's major rivals in the market include Asus, Dell and Acer. It is estimated that a total of 15.28 million notebook computers will be sold in China this year, compared with 12.60 million sold in 2008.
