Introduction

Tianjin Panzhuang Industrial Park (Tianjin Panzhuang IP) was established by the Tianjin Municipal Government in 2006 and has a designated area of 1.5 km2. It is a city-level park.

Tianjin Panzhuang IP is located in Panzhuang Town in the western area of Ninghe County, which is situated between downtown Tianjin and Tangshan. The IP is 40 km northeast from the city’s downtown area, 35 km from Tianjin Binhai International Airport, 65 km from Tianjin Port, 75 km from Tangshan and 70 km from Tangshan's Jingtang Port.

Tianjin Port is a major passageway for cargo transport. The cargo from Beijing, North and Northwest China have to be loaded on board in Tianjin Port, and then be delivered to other coastal regions of China or to other countries. In 2007, the port's cargo throughput reached 309 million tons, ranking fourth in China (behind Shanghai, Ningbo and Guangzhou), and sixth in the world.

Binhai Airport is located 10 km from Tianjin’s downtown area. In 2007, its cargo throughput reached 125,000 tons, ranking twelfth in China.

Investment Climate

Panzhuang IP’s pillar industries are building materials, food processing and machinery. By 2006, the accumulated investment in the park reached RMB 310 million. Within the same year, thirteen companies set up new businesses in the park with an average investment of RMB 23.8 million. The total industrial output of the companies in the IP reached RMB 237 million in 2006, up 17% year on year, accounting for 1.4% of Ninghe County's total.

The park’s main investor is Jidong Cement. Jidong Cement is a Tangshan based Shenzhen-listed company, which was set up in 1994. Its main businesses are cement and cement equipment manufacturing. In 2007, its revenue reached RMB 3.9 billion, up 33.4% year on year. Its branch in the park, Tianjin Jidong Cement, was established in 2003 and involves an investment of RMB 80 million. Its plant covers an area of 0.2 km2 and can produce 800,000 tons of cement per year.
