Introduction

Tianjin Ziya Industrial Park (Tianjin Ziya IP) was established by the Tianjin Municipal Government as a city-level park in 2006 and has a designated area of 1.2 km2. It was formerly known as Ziya Environmental Protection Industrial Park.

Tianjin Ziya IP is located in Jinghai County’s Ziya Town, which is situated between downtown Tianjin and Hebei Province's Cangzhou. The IP is 50 km southwest from the city’s downtown area, 60 km from Tianjin Binhai International Airport, 85 km from Tianjin Port, and 55 km from Cangzhou. Additionally, the park is 8 km from the Beijing-Shanghai Expressway.

Tianjin Port is a major passageway for cargo transport. The cargo from Beijing, North and Northwest China have to be loaded on board in Tianjin Port, and then be delivered to other coastal regions of China or to other countries. In 2007, the port's cargo throughput reached 309 million tons, ranking fourth in China (behind Shanghai, Ningbo and Guangzhou), and sixth in the world. Binhai Airport is located 10 km from Tianjin’s downtown area. In 2007, its cargo throughput reached 125,000 tons, ranking twelfth in China.

Investment Climate

Ziya IP is the largest industrial park in North China among all the parks focused on the utilization of abandoned mechanical and electronic products. It is also the largest collecting and distributing center for renewable resources and non-ferrous metals in North China.

In 2007, it was established by the Ministry of Information Technology as a national model base for the recycling, dismantling and processing of IT products. That year, its output of recycled materials reached 500,000 tons of copper, 350,000 tons of aluminum, 300,000 tons of iron and 350,000 tons of plastic and rubber.

To date, the IP's area has been increased to 2 km2. Ninety-five companies have been set up in the park, with a total dismantling capability of 2 million tons. Major companies include Tianjin Danke Metal Products, Fortune Recycling, and Tianjin Phoenix Metal.

Aside from the recycling of IT products, the recycling of automobiles and tires, and material fine processing and reproduction are also industries encouraged in the park.

According to the park's plan, by 2010, its annual recycling capability will reach 8 million tons. This includes the recycling of major product such as 700,000 tons of copper, 500,000 tons of aluminum, 2 million tons of iron, and 1.2 million tons of plastic and rubber.
