Introduction

Tianjin Balitai Industrial Park (Tianjin Balitai IP) was established by the Tianjin Municipal Government in 2006 and covers an area of 6.15 km2.

Tianjin Balitai IP is located between Tianjin’s downtown and the Binhai New District, adjacent to Xiqingwei Electronic Industrial Park and Dagang Petrochemical Base. It is 15 km from the city’s downtown area, 20 km from Tianjin Binhai International Airport, 25 km from Tianjin Port, and 10 km from Binhai New District.

Tianjin Port is a major passageway for cargo transport. The cargo from Beijing, North and Northwest China have to be loaded on board in Tianjin Port, and then be delivered to other coastal regions of China or to other countries.  In 2007, the port's cargo throughput reached 309 million tons, ranking fourth in China after Shanghai, Ningbo and Guangzhou, and sixth in the world.

Binhai Airport is located 10 km from downtown Tianjin. In 2007, its cargo throughput reached 125,000 tons, ranking twelfth in China.

The IP is close to several expressways such as Tianjin-Shantou, Tianjin-Shanghai, Weihai-Wuhai, Tianjin-Taiyuan and Dandong-Lhasa. There are also rail links to the Beijing-Shanghai Railway and the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway - two major traffic arteries of China.

Investment Climate

In the first half of 2008, eleven companies established businesses in the park, with utilized FDI of US$238 million. Infrastructure investments reached RMB 40 million.

Tianjin Balitai IP’s pillar industries are electronics, machinery and light industry. Presently, there are 346 companies in the park, of which, 123 are machinery enterprises. They deal primarily in metal products processing, wiredrawing, special steel and steel pipe manufacturing. In the first ten months of 2008, the total revenue of the park’s machinery industry reached RMB 650 million. Wanlite Steel Products, Simante Steel Pipe, Ganda Bicycle and Vertex Bicycle are major companies within the field.

In the electronics sector, thirty companies from South Korea focus on the business of communication component manufacturing for large enterprises like Samsung.

Located at the outskirts of Tianjin's downtown, Tianjin Balitai IP also has beautiful natural scenery. It is adjacent to the Beijing-Tianjin Golf Court and Bishui Jintai, which is the Tianjin's model mini-town for good habitat.
