Dongguan is especially well-known for its IT industry. There are more than 3700 enterprises in this field, manufacturing up to 95% of all the components and peripherals of a computer. Export of IT products including computer and peripherals, electronic communication equipment, electric devices and electronic components in 2008reached USD 17.30 billion. Thanks to the well-developed industrial chain, the factories in Dongguan could not only sharply cut the cost of raw materials and transportation, but also highly raise the producing efficiency by easily finding their suppliers and processing partners locally. Most importantly, they can easily explore the South China market by local sales to Dongguan and neighboring cites. Local trade volume among FIEs in Dongguan reaches USD 26 billion annually.
