May 14, 2009 (China Knowledge) - China Telecom Corp Ltd<0728><CHA>, the nation's largest fixed-line operator, recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Taiwan-based electronics provider VIA Technology Inc to jointly boost the development of China's CDMA technology, sources reported. Under the agreement, the two firms will embark on all-round cooperation in the fields of technology, R&D and industrial promotion of the CDMA industry to secure a larger share of the country's 3G market. Working with VIA Technology, a global leading CDMA chip provider, will help China Telecom build a healthy and fast-developing CDMA industrial chain in China, said Yang Xiaowei, vice president of the Chinese telecom. China Telecom was authorized to launch CDMA 3G services earlier this year.
