Introduction

The Shanghai Yueyang Industrial Zone (Shanghai Yueyang IZ) consists of the Yuepu Industrial Sub-zone, the Baoshan Yanghang Industrial Economic Development Zone and the Gucun IndustriaI Park. Yueyang IZ is located in Baoshan District in north-western part of Shanghai, and was approved to be a municipality-level development zone by the Shanghai municipal government in 2006. It has a planned area of 8.55 km2.

Shanghai Yueyang IZ is easily accessible via airways, railways and waterways. The zone is 17 km away from the Shanghai Hongqiao Airport and 30 km away from the Shanghai Pudong International Airport. The Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway and the Shanghai-Hangzhou Expressway link the zone with other major cities in the Yangtze River Delta. The zone is only 13 km away from the Shanghai Railway Station, which connects the zone with other major cities throughout China. Shanghai Port, the world’s largest port in terms of cargo traffic, is 7 km away.

There were sixty universities and colleges in Shanghai, including the Shanghai Tongji University and the Fudan University. In 2007, the combined number of graduates from the universities reached 118,500.

Investment Climate

Adjacent to Baoshan Iron&Steel Group (Baosteel Group), the largest steel-maker in China in terms of their annual production capacity, Shanghai Yueyang IZ has a strong industrial base to develop steel processing and other related industries. The zone also encourages investments in machinery and auto parts-producing industries.
