Apr. 27, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Swedish clothing retailer Hennes&Mauritz AB (H&M) on Thursday launched its first store in Qianmen street, one of the oldest commercial street in China's capital city Beijing, sources reported. Ann-Sofie Johansson, head of Design, said the crowded flagship store was beyond the expectation, especially in a bad rainy day, and hopes the local residents will enjoy H&M. Furthermore, Spanish fashion chain Zara and U.S. ice-cream seller Haagen-dazs also plans to open their outlets in Qianmen street, according to local official. H&M previously announced it will add 255 stores worldwide in 2009, including 5 outlets in China, in spite of the economic downturn, according to China Knowledge' earlier report.
