Apr. 23, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Taiwan-based Acer Inc, the world's third-largest PC brand, plans to sell over 1 million smartphones in 2010 and secure a 6-7% market share within three years, said Aymar de Lencquesaing, Acer's senior vice president for smart handheld business, sources reported. The company expects its smartphone business can contribute 10% to its overall revenue in three years and become one of the top five smartphone producers in the world before 2012, according to de Lencquesaing. He also revealed that it is likely that Acer will launch an Android-based smartphone model this year. On Wednesday, Acer launched in Singapore a series of advanced mobile phones for the Asia-Pacific region, and similar launches will be held later in Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Australia and Chinese mainland.
