Introduction

 

Jieyang is situated in the southeastern part of Guangdong Province. The city is adjacent to Shantou to the east, Chaozhou to the northeast, Meizhou to the north, Shanwei to the west and faces the South China Sea to the south. It has an area of 5,240 sq km and a population of 5.7 million.

 

Jieyang is a transportation hub for east Guangdong. The Yantai-Shantou Highway, the Fuzhou-Kunming Highway, the Guangzhou-Meizhou Railway and the Shenzhen-Shantou Highway traverse the city, linking Jieyang with major cities in East China and South China. Jieyang Chaoshan Airport, still under construction, is scheduled for completion in 2011. Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport are within 4 hours' drive from downtown Jieyang.

 

Jieyang enjoys a subtropical monsoon climate, with rich sunshine and rainfalls. The average temperature in this city is above 20. The city has plentiful mineral resources, such as copper, tin, iron and gold.
