Apr. 22, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Sales at the first phase of the 105th China Import and Export Fair, widely known as Canton Fair, have declined 20.8% from the same phase of the 104th session last October to US$13.03 billion, said Mu Xinhai, deputy secretary-general and spokesman of the fair. The number of buyers attending the first phase of the most famous trade fair in China declined 5.4% from the previous session to 82,520, according to Mu. Transactions with China's four major export partners, the E.U., Japan, Australia and the U.S., edged down 38.6%, 36.5%, 11.2% and 4.9%, respectively, while deals with emerging countries, Argentina, India and ASEAN nations, climbed 16.6%, 9.7% and 4.5%, respectively. The second phase of the 105th session, to be held from Apr. 24 to Apr. 28, will display daily consumer products, gifts, household articles and decorations.
