Gree Electric Appliances 2008 profit up 65%

Apr. 21, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Gree Electric Appliances Inc of Zhuhai<000651>, the world's biggest home air-conditioner manufacturer, reported a 65% year-on-year increase in its net profit for 2008, which was RMB 2.1 billion, with earnings per share at RMB 1.68, according to the annual financial report it released on Tuesday.

The company declared a larger final dividend of RMB 3 per 10 shares, or a total of RMB 376 million, compared with the RMB 250 million in dividends it declared a year earlier.

Last year, the Shenzhen-based company saw an operating income of RMB 42.03 billion, up 10.58% year on year.
