Apr. 21, 2009 (China Knowledge) - China UnionPay (CUP), the only national credit card organization in China, on Sunday revealed that it recently signed a global cooperation agreement with Global Payments Inc, a U.S.-based transaction processor that offers services worldwide, sources reported. According to the agreement, Global Payments will accept business clients' CUP cards in thirteen countries and regions in Europe, Asia Pacific and South America, including the U.K., the Czech Republic, Singapore, Malaysia, India, the Maldives, Brunei and Sri Lanka. At the same time, Cai Jianbo, executive vice president of CUP, and Jim Kelly, chairman, president & CEO of Global Payments, signed an agreement for CUP card business in Canada. Currently, Global Payments offers transaction services to over one million business clients in North America alone.
