Apr. 21, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Cisco Systems, the world's largest supplier of networking equipment, on Apr. 17 launched a joint green technology R&D lab with Tsinghua University, sources reported. The joint lab will be operated by the Department of Electronic Engineering of Tsinghua University and the Cisco China Green Research and Development (R&D) Center. It will focus on intelligent urbanization to support China's long term energy-efficient and green GDP growth strategy through developing network-based technologies and solutions. Cisco will also open a supply chain institute with Shanghai-based Fudan University, aiming to design world-class educational programs and to train the senior management staff of Chinese enterprises in supply chain management. Previously, the company said it will conduct a US$16 billion multiyear investment in China to boost local innovation and create more market opportunities for Cisco and its partners through a series of investments in capital, technology, process expertise, incubation resources and leadership.
