Apr. 17, 2009 (China Knowledge) - The State Council, or China's Cabinet, approved the stimulus plan for the electronics and IT sector, under which the sector is expected to create over 1.5 million new jobs during the next three years, according to a document released on the government's Website on Wednesday. The total 1.5 million new jobs will include 1 million for college graduates. The three-year plan's other two goals are that the electronics and IT sector will contribute at least 0.7% to the nation's GDP growth, compared with 0.8% in 2008, and that income from the software and information service sectors will represent 15% of the sector's total, up from 12% at present. To achieve these goals, the Chinese government will increase state investment and credit support, raise export tax rebates, boost domestic consumption and encourage mergers and restructuring.
