Apr. 16, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Waste Management Inc, a U.S.-based integrated waste services provider, plans to seek business opportunities in power generation in China, according to a report released on Tuesday by a Japanese news agency, David Steiner, chief executive of Waste Management, said the company is planning to cooperate with a subsidiary of Shanghai Chengtou Holding Co Ltd<600649> to build waste-to-energy plants in China. Waste Management aims to increase the company's energy revenues by 20% by stepping into the market in China, which plans to build more than 100 waste-to-energy plants in the next five years.
