Apr. 8, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Anheuser-Busch, the world's second-largest brewer, will spend an initial US$40 million this year to complete the first phase of a new brewery project in Fengnan District, Tangshan City, Hebei Province, according to the local Commercial Bureau. When the first phase of construction is complete, the facility will have a beer production capacity of 310,000 tons. The company plans to invest a total of US$80 million in the project, which will cover 160,000 square meters. The new facility will replace the downtown brewery, which Anheuser-Busch has agreed to close in accordance with the local government's plans to develop the city's downtown as a primarily commercial and residential area.
