Mar. 30, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc, a U.S.-based analytical technology and laboratory equipment provider, plans to expand its business in China and aims to make China the company's second largest market in two to three years, said to Marc Casper, an executive vice president of Thermo Fisher. Since China is focusing more attention on environmental issues, Thermo Fisher hopes to profit from new business opportunities in China, added Casper. Recently, the company moved the headquarters of its Environmental Instruments Division (EID) to Shanghai, the largest city in China, aiming to boost its growth in China's environmental instruments market. Currently, the company's EID has nine production centers worldwide. Last year, the company supplied air quality monitoring equipment for the Beijing Olympics and provided water quality analysis equipment to the earthquake-stricken area in Sichuan Province Its sales revenue in China reached US$300 million in 2008.
