Mar. 25, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Tibet Autonomous Region will reopen areas that have been closed to foreign guests and to those from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan in April, according to the Tibetan Tourism Bureau, sources reported. It is estimated that the tourists coming to Tibet will increase by at least 30%, because the period beginning in late April is the best season to travel in Tibet. Namu Lake, known as the "lake in the sky", was closed because of harsh weather, but is once again available for tourist visits. Currently, Tibet has over 300 scenic spots for tourists to visit. Nyingchi Prefecture, which held the week-long local peach blossom festival beginning on Mar. 15, attracted 3,000 tourists and visiting photographers.
