Mar. 23, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Chery Automobile Co Ltd, the largest private automaker in China, launched its luxury car brands Riich and Rely in Wuhu on Thursday as part of the auto maker's efforts to boost sales and expand overseas operations, the Shanghai Daily reported.
Chery will produce high-end car under the brand Riich and all-purpose commercial vehicle under Rely, said the company, adding that there will be at least five models produced under Riich, including a sports coupe and three small compacts.
Riich G6, equipped with a 3.0 V6 or 2.0 turbo engine, rolled off the assembly line last Thursday. The model was solely developed by Chery and is expected to gain more share in the mid-to-high class car market and be able to compete with foreign brands, said the auto maker.
Chery set price at between RMB 180,000 and RMB 220,000 for Riich G6.
A new sales network will be set up to support the development of the two brands, said Chery.
The company aims to sell 250,000 vehicles in the domestic market this year, with 50,000 to 60,000 units of Riich and Rely being sold. It also aims to sell more than 100,000 units in overseas markets.
