BDA awards 50 key enterprises

Mar. 19, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area (BDA) held a ceremony to award nearly RMB 10 million to its 50 biggest enterprises on Mar. 10. Among the companies recognized were Nokia (China), Beijing Benz, Bayer, Tetra Pak, Foxconn, and Shiseido.

Officials from the BDA Administrative Commission and other service bureaus attended the ceremony and exchanged views with the representatives of the top 50 companies.

Zhang Boxu, General Director of the BDA Administrative Commission, shared information regarding BDA's economic development in 2008 and outlined BDA's development goals and priorities for 2009.

In 2008, BDA fashioned its policies on actively assisting enterprises in the zone to cope with the challenges and difficulties brought about by the financial crisis and maintain stable and rapid development of these enterprises. In 2009, BDA will continue efforts to deal with the crisis, and will adopt new measures in the fields of investment, industrial promotion, urban infrastructure and ancillary building services and facilities, according to Zhang.

There are now more than 2,599 enterprises from more than 30 countries and regions in BDA, with a total investment of almost US$19 billion. 66 of the world's top 500 enterprises, including Nokia, Mercedes-Benz, GE, Bayer, Corning, Panasonic, Bosch Rexroth, Sanyo, Coca-Cola, Kimberly-Clark, Schneider, Aventis, Mitsubishi, ABB, 3M, LG, DHL, and Cummins, have started a total of 84 projects in BDA.
