Auchan to open outlet in Shaoxing

Mar. 13, 2009 (China Knowledge) - French retail giant Auchan Group yesterday signed an agreement with a local commercial property firm in Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province on opening a hypermarket in a shopping mall developed by the latter, sources reported.

The hypermarket, with an estimated floor area of 37,000 square meters in Shimao Lakeside Shopping Center in the city, is expected to open by the end of 2009.

The move demonstrates Auchan's confidence in Shaoxing, known for its strong economic strength and huge potential consumption capacity.

Currently, Auchan has outlets in Hangzhou, Ningbo, Zhoushan and Jiaxing in Zhejiang Province.
