Feb. 27, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Volkswagen AG, the top European automaker, announced it aims to double its annual vehicle sales in China to 2 million by 2018. Volkswagen's China joint ventures Shanghai Volkswagen and FAW-Volkswagen will join hands to achieve the sales target equally and respectively, according to Winfried Vahland, president and CEO of Volkswagen's China operations. Volkswagen plans to add or upgrade four models each year and double the number of its dealers to 2,000 during the period in a bid to increase its market share in China, said Vahland. Last year, brands like Volkswagen, Audi and Skoda have sold 1.02 million cars in China, hitting the 1 million mark for the first time.
