Feb. 24, 2009 (China Knowledge) - General Electric Co (GE), the U.S. technology and services conglomerate, plans to double wind turbine deliveries to Chinese customers over the next two years, the Shanghai Daily reported.

GE's environmental product campaign head Steve Fludder noted GE hopes to increase wind turbine shipments to 320 units in 2009, up from 159 units of last year. The company also aims to double the amount  to 600 units by 2010.

Last week, GE signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Zhuzhou Nanfang Gas Turbine Package Engineering Co, a subsidiary of China National South Aviation Industry (Group) Co.

According to the MOU, GE will provide core technology to help produce the 25000-35000 kilowatt gas turbine in the local plant of the Chinese company. The single unit of the gas turbine costs around RMB 150 million. Both design and manufacturing technology have their own intellectual property rights in China.
