Jan. 20, 2009 (China Knowledge) - China South Locomotive & Rolling Stock Co Ltd (CSR)<601766><1766>, the country's largest manufacturer of rail vehicles, has produced high-powered, AC drive, six-axis, 9600- kilowatt electric locomotives with self-owned intellectual property rights recently.

The new model, namely HXD1, is one of the most advanced types of electric locomotive, and will become the main rolling stock for the country's heavy haul railway lines, sources reported.

CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive was responsible for the design and development of the new model.
