Dec. 22, 2008 (China Knowledge) - China Resources Snow Breweries Ltd, the country's biggest brewer, has started the construction of its plant in Baoshan Industrial Zone in the outskirts of Shanghai, sources reported. With a total investment of RMB 650 million, the wholly-owned new plant covers an area of 190,000 square meters. After completion, the plant will be able to produce 400 million liters per year, becoming the biggest beer production plant in Shanghai, said Zhao Chunwu, general manager of the plant. So far, Snow Breweries has more than 60 subsidiaries nationwide. Its shareholders are Hong Kong-listed China Resources Enterprises Ltd<291>, a property investment and investment holding company, and the world's second-largest beer maker SABMiller PLC. In 2007, CRB sold more than 690 million liters of beer in China, with nearly 17% of the total market share. By setting up the plant in Shanghai, the company hopes to gain a bigger market share in eastern China.
