Dec. 19, 2008 (China Knowledge) - U.S.-based automotive battery supplier, Johnson Controls Inc, announced that it will allot US$90 million to build a lead acid battery production facility in eastern China's Zhejiang Province.

The production facility will be located in China's green-power energy industrial center in Changxing Economic Development Zone of Zhejiang province.

The capacity of the new plant is expected to be 4 million auto batteries per year. The plant will adopt its PowerFrame technology to reduce pollutant emissions and energy consumption during production.

Construction of the plant will start in Jan. 2009, said Johnson Controls. The project is scheduled to be completed in June 2010.
