Nov. 26, 2008 (China Knowledge) - Hong Kong-listed Great Wall Motor Co<2333>, China's largest manufacturer of sports utility vehicles (SUV) and pick-up trucks, is recalling 17,916 Hover CUVs from Nov. 25, due to defects of the steering gears, according to China's General Administration of Quality Supervision Inspection and Quarantines. The defected vehicles were produced between Apr. 1, 2005 to Jul. 28, 2006 and reported to have oil leakage from the steering gears and oil blockage in the left cavity, according to the recall report. Great Wall Motor promised to offer free inspection for the recalled vehicle as well as replace the problematic steering gears.
