Nov. 20, 2008 (China Knowledge) - The housing price in Beijing rose 5.2% year on year in October, and the growth rate was 1.7% lower than that of the previous month, sources reported, citing the statistics released by the Beijing Statistics Bureau. About 1.124 million square meters of residential properties were sold in October, representing a decrease of 45.7% compared with the same months of last year. In the first ten months of this year, sales of residential buildings slid 54.2% to 6.175 million square meters. A total of 56,115 flats were sold during the Jan.-Oct. period, including 13,042 units sold in October. The average price of new residential buildings went down slightly by 0.1% from the previous month, while that of second-hand housing dropped 0.4% month on month, representing decrease for three consecutive months.
