China National Coal output up 6.8% in Jan-Oct

Nov. 19, 2008 (China Knowledge) - China National Coal Group, parent of China Coal Energy Co Ltd<601898><1898>, said on Tuesday it produced 94.76 million tons of coal during the Jan.-Oct. period, representing a year-on-year growth of 6.8%.

Over the first ten months this year, its total sales of coal rose 7.6% from the previous year to 85.26 million tons. Of the total, 71.37 million tons of coal was sold in the domestic market and coal exports amounted to 13.73 million tons.

In the reporting period, the group reaped RMB 67.69 billion in operating revenue, representing a year-on-year rise of 42%, and its overall profits soared 62% to RMB 10.43 billion, without specifying whether the figure was net or gross profit.

Last Thursday, its unit China Coal Energy Co, the country's second-largest coal miner by revenue, announced its coal output increased 8.8% year on year to 83.62 million tons for the first ten months, and its sales of coal went up 8.2% to 75.6 million tons, including 62.02 million tons sold in the domestic market and 13.56 million tons in exports, China Knowledge reported earlier.
