* Tops 31.6 pct same-store sales growth in September
* Heattech and other winter items lift sales
TOKYO, Nov 2 - Japan's Fast Retailing said on Monday that domestic same-store sales at its Uniqlo casual-clothing chain surged 35.7 percent in October from a year earlier, boosted by strong sales of winter items.
The latest figure follows a whopping 31.6 percent gain in September that sent the company's shares soaring, bucking a prolonged retail slump that has seen other firms post sharp falls in profit or sink into the red.
Fast Retailing said the onset of cooler weather helped spur sales of its "Heattech" undergarments made of heat-trapping fabric as well as fleece and down jackets. The Uniqlo chain runs about 770 stores in Japan and some 90 overseas.
The company, which forecast 10.5 percent growth in operating profit for the year ending in August, has said it expects 3 percent growth in same-store sales for the period.
