We decided to join Alibaba as a free member in 2016 after hearing about how successful the platform is. In order to stay ahead of our competitors and generate more business, we upgraded to the Gold Supplier status after two weeks on Alibaba.

After joining the Alibaba platform, we increased our online sales channels and started to get more inquiries from potential customers. Last year, our online sales grew by a factor of 50. We have had many orders from the United Arab Emirates, England, China, America, India, the Ukraine, Germany and Italy. Alibaba supports us in attracting customers from new markets, not just the traditional ones. We now have customers from Chile, Australia, Hong Kong and Tanzania, places we have never sold to before.

We get 200 inquiries per month and have had to hire dedicated staff to reply to them. Most of the inquiries are converted into actual sales. Our most popular product on the Alibaba platform is Azerbaijani brandy and we receive numerous orders for it from England, America and Russia.

One of the obstacles to our success in e-commerce was a lack of detailed information about our business. In the past, the most successful sectors in e-commerce were related to electronics and clothing. Our goal over the next year is to double the number of inquiries we get through the B2B and B2C channels on Alibaba, and to reach more quality customers by offering high-value, premium products.
