The year of 2008 was unusual because the domestic economy was seriously influenced by the worldwide economic crisis. The domestic market situation was not good and the economy was trending downward day by day. As to our factory, Guangzhou Meiming Handbag Factory, it was important for us to survive from it as a mid-sized company in the industry. We knew that we were confronting a big problem.

We felt very confused about whether we needed an e-commerce platform and which platform would suit us best. Finally, we chose Alibaba.com, which is the biggest on-line B2B platform, after careful consideration.

Although we signed the contract with Alibaba.com, we were still apprehensive about it. We were not sure if it really could bring profits to us. At the very beginning, there were few inquiries. We didn’t give up and continued to update our products and sales information. Gradually, the effect of Alibaba.com became apparent beyond our expectations. The big change reflected the fact that inquires increased quickly and we’ve accumulated a great deal of customer resources. The small amount of orders about thousands of dollars developed into more than ten million orders per month. At the same time, Alibaba.com also offered regular training and guidelines online, which made it easier for us to find the right customers to expand the overseas markets.

Now our business on Alibaba.com has turned in the right direction, and we have got market share in South America, Europe and the Middle East. But we found that the platform we were operating was not convenient for our small orders’ market. Therefore, we reflected our needs to Albiaba.com and now they are offering a new wholesale online service to us. I think we can seize new opportunities through this. We believe that even a small amount can be accumulated to create great deal of business. What’s more, we have also opened our business to Japan to build up a new market there.

At present, we are making our biggest effort to set up and expand the international markets.
