Our company started back in January 2000. Back then, we did all of our own painting, and sold them to hotels in Shenzhen and Canton. To diversify our business, we opened a professional art gallery in 2001, and a second in 2003. Hoping to diversify internationally as well, we joined Alibaba.com as a TrustPass member.
Two years later, we closed both our galleries. Not because business was bad, but quite the opposite. We were getting so many inquiries from our TrustPass membership alone that there was no point in keeping our galleries open!
Business was good, but we knew there was plenty of room for us to grow. In 2005, we decided to dive into the international game and signed on as a Gold Supplier. While our company did not change significantly, the Gold Supplier status did wonders for our reputation. We started receiving a lot more inquiries. On average, we now receive some 80 to 100 serious inquiries every month, many of which turn into real orders.
Not only has Alibaba.com helped us by getting us more business, they have also helped us become a better supplier as well. My staff and I attend the training sessions held by Alibaba.com regularly, which teach everything from basic topics such as international trade etiquette to more complicated subjects such as how to differentiate our company to stand out from our competitors. Thanks to the advice I have learned from Alibaba.com,my company now offers more and better services to our customers, and can minimize sourcing costs, and maximize profits.
Last year, Alibaba.com even invited us to join a special sourcing event, which was held with the ADEO Group. We got a chance to meet the buyer and negotiate a deal with them. We’re still in negotiations with them now, but it seems very promising.
Nowadays, our company employs more than 200 professional artists to do our painting for us, and our inquiries come from all over the world. Had it not been for Alibaba.com, a small company like mine would never have been able to grow so quickly, expand into the international market, or work with a buyer like ADEO. Thanks Alibaba.com!
