SABA is a company based in Poland, we are a family business and we deal with the international supply of frozen goods, especially meat.

 

We first heard about the Alibaba platform in 2014. We discovered that Alibaba could give us the opportunity to reach customers on the international market. It would allow us to sell in areas such as South-East Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

 

It’s true that the beginning was hard, e-commerce was a little bit different from what I had learned about business before. Firstly, I had to figure out how to make our products attractive and encourage buyers to send inquiries. Secondly, I had to face logistics issues – transportation from Poland to Vietnam or Hong Kong, which are our main markets in Asia right now, takes about 40 days, and goods must be refrigerated during that time.

 

However, the biggest issue we faced was to build trust between potential buyers and our company. As Jack Ma says, "When there is trust everything is easy, when there is no trust things start to get complicated." My idea to solve this issue was to encourage each client to visit our plant and get to know our company in person – this helped us a lot, not only did I meet great customers from Asia, but also wonderful people and friends.

 

We have already been Gold Suppliers for 3 years on Alibaba. During the first 2 years, I have personally replied to over 1500 inquiries on the Alibaba site. I tried to treat every inquiry as unique and reply as quickly as possible. This strategy helped me to keep the response rate high and improve our product rankings on Alibaba.

 

Currently, we receive about 30 inquires weekly, and 1 or 2 of them will become an order. Responding to questions from potential buyers is crucial, each one is unique and requires a different approach. Patience is the key to this process.

 

Alibaba is a great tool for expanding business internationally. Thanks to Alibaba, I was able to understand the needs of Asian buyers and make many sales. Recently, we have bought a new plant for processing food products bound for the Asian market.
