As a former creative director Edward Augustavo has a lot of experience creating brands. In 2008 his current business partner approached him with an under-developed and non-funded product. They worked together to create and grow Hard8 Beverage Company (www.hard8beverage.com), specializing in energy shots and malt alcohol beverages.
Today Hard8 Beverage Company is selling products in 16 states and quickly expecting to expand and be selling in 45 states by the end of 2009. "Our biggest problem right now is finding suppliers who can manufacture products fast enough to meet our demand," said Edward. "We have a cool product, a focused brand and strong drive to succeed."
As Edward began expanding his product line he tried to source a new bottle locally in Seattle, but none of the companies were able to offer what he needed at a reasonable price. "I realized there had to be a better way to deal with manufacturers directly and started searching on the internet," Edward said. "This led me to Alibaba.com where I was able to source and have our company's core bottle for our energy shots manufactured at exactly the price in my original business model."
Ed has also sourced a variety of other products for his business from Alibaba.com. "I've sourced acrylic displays and printed materials for 4-packs for an incredible savings and I'm looking on Alibaba.com right now for our next printed materials order."
Edward advises new users to Alibaba.com to spend your time researching and source from more than just one or two suppliers/manufacturers. He also suggests ordering samples before placing large orders to build your relationship and trust with suppliers slowly.
Edward credits Alibaba.com with his success in a down economy, "In reality, if I wasn't able to use Alibaba.com, I wouldn't be in business right now."
